The Path To Health & Wellness

I’ve had a love affair with “food” my entire life.  I use the term “food” loosely here because over time, my definition of that word has drastically changed.

I used to eat pretty much anything and everything.  In my teens and twenties, I was enamoured with fast food, sweets and meat; vegetables were not even on my radar.  As I got older and my culinary interests started to slowly expand, I began to explore flavours from all around the globe.  Toronto is a great place to do that.  I also took a pastry class.

Fast forward a couple of years…

I was never one to struggle with weight issues, so the assumption in my deluded mind was that there was no problem in me continuing to eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted.  In retrospect, I had always suffered from digestive issues but it was my “normal”.  In my early thirties,  I began to experience other health problems: mood swings & anxiety, low energy, brittle hair & nails and more frequent & severe breakouts.  I finally woke up and realized I needed to make some changes, so I sought the advice of a naturopath.  That was where my road to a healthy lifestyle began.

It’s been ten years since that first step and I’ve come a long way.  The thing with health and wellness is that it really is an ongoing project.  There is so much that goes into changing the course of your future but there are three really important factors to keep in mind:  commitment to change, slow & steady progress and constant & consistent learning.

So, if you really want to take that step, I encourage you to start now. Start small and remember that even the slightest change makes a difference.
